  1. Creating the perfect environment:

Did you know that it going to sleep with your hair wet or tying it up when wet CAN CREATE A BREEDING GROUND FOR BACTERIA?(Well bacteria does grow in damp, dark, places…) Especially important for those of you who already have problematic scalps, ie. Dry scalps, Oily flaky scalps, Hair loss, Oily scalps. So blowdry your hair, please!

  2. Hair Loss:

There are generally 2 types of hair loss: Genetic and Reactional (Both types are applicable to men and women) Genetic hair loss is hereditary and inevitable but the process can be slowed down with the correct regimen. Reactional hair loss usually occurs after a traumatic event or stress because you are “reacting” to something.

Washing your hair with just any shampoo off the shelf will not help with these situations. In fact these shampoos can make it WORSE! For example: if you are already thinning and just using any old shampoo, the shampoo may not be cleansing the scalp well enough and leaving product/oil residue on the scalp;whereas shampoos that are too cleansing may strip off all the natural oils! Both these scenarios WILL ENCOURAGE FURTHER HAIR LOSS!

  3. Oily Scalps

For those of you who have oily scalps/hair (and yes, it is possible to have an oily scalp, but dry hair) Washing it more often WILL NOT make it less oily. In fact, this may encourage oiliness! Suggestions for those who frequent the gym and have to wash your hair everyday: 1. Use a very gentle shampoo and conditioner 2. Simply rinse your hair with water and condition the ends 3. Spray the hair with a dry shampoo
  4. Dandruff

Dandruff is a tricky one. It is also one of those conditions where it may not be permanently treated but controlled. Dandruff can also appear with 1 or even all of the above conditions. For some people this is more of a seasonal issue(colder seasons) and some, quite chronic. As mentioned before, using the appropriate shampoos and treatments will help to treat it. Note: Some of you may already be using a very popular , well known drug store shampoo as a remedy. But did you know that many of these shampoos use very harsh ingredients that may encourage any of the above conditions, dry out your hair and strip your color? Furthermore, many of these shampoos only work as long as you continue to use it! So treat the problem long term with gentler approach!
